Privacy Policy

Overview

BowelBuddy ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data. The short version: we collect almost nothing, and your health data stays on your device.

Data We Collect

On-Device Data

BowelBuddy stores the following data entirely on your device using local storage (SQLite and AsyncStorage): visit logs (date, time, Bristol type, comfort rating, effort, duration, notes), context tags, Gut Score history, streak and badge data, notification preferences, theme preferences, and privacy lock settings. This data never leaves your device.

What We Do Not Collect

BowelBuddy does not use advertising trackers, tracking pixels, or cookies, and it does not require a user account. We do not collect your name, email address, or bathroom-log content. We do not use health entries for advertising or cross-app tracking.

Reminders

If you enable check-in nudge notifications, reminders are scheduled locally on your device by iOS. They never pass through a server, and no push notification token is created or transmitted.

Third-Party Services

BowelBuddy uses two service providers, and neither receives your health data:

Sentry (diagnostics) may receive your device model, OS version, app version, crash data, performance data, and a stack trace. Default personally identifiable information collection is disabled and event payloads are scrubbed. Sentry does not receive visit logs, notes, or context tags.

RevenueCat (purchase management) receives a random anonymous app-user ID when the app connects to its purchase service, plus purchase information from Apple when you buy or restore Bowel Buddy Pro. This lets the app verify and restore purchases across reinstalls. RevenueCat never receives your health data.

Beyond these services, there are no advertising networks or data brokers. We do not sell or rent your data, and neither provider receives bathroom-log content.

Data Export & Deletion

You can export all your data as a CSV file at any time through the app's Settings. You can also delete all data permanently via Settings → Data Management → "Delete All Data." Since no data is stored on our servers, deletion is instant and irreversible.

Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA)

Since we do not collect or store personal data on our servers, there is no personal data to access, correct, or delete remotely. All data is under your control on your device. You can export or delete it at any time. If you have questions about your data rights, contact us at admin@loriccoandco.com.

Children's Privacy

BowelBuddy is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will take steps to address the concern.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of BowelBuddy after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
